About the Program
The Health & Society program explores how health and illness are shaped by social, cultural, political and economic factors. You’ll study how health systems work, how policies are created and how different communities experience health and healing. The program combines perspectives from sociology, anthropology, political science and more to help you understand complex health issues at local and global levels. Through critical thinking and applied learning, you’ll develop the skills to analyze real-world challenges and support positive change. If you’re interested in public health, policy or community work, this program prepares you for a range of meaningful careers.

Applied Learning Opportunities
Health & Society offers hands-on learning through diverse and applied experiences. You’ll learn from guest speakers, including practitioners from government and advocacy organizations as well as Indigenous healers, gaining insight into real-world health systems and approaches. Courses include group work, case studies, policy analysis and community-based research, alongside creative projects using visual art, drama and literature. Field trips across Toronto and virtual sessions with global health experts from UN agencies and international NGOs provide local and global perspectives. Through experiential learning and optional paid co-op opportunities, you’ll apply classroom knowledge, build analytical and communication skills, and graduate prepared for careers in health-related fields.
