Applied Learning Opportunities
Linguistics offers hands-on learning through research-based and interactive experiences that deepen your understanding of language. You can conduct independent fieldwork by working with a native speaker to analyze a language new to you, building practical research and analytical skills. Advanced fourth-year courses provide opportunities for applied research, while small class sizes support close collaboration with faculty and peers. You’ll also engage with the field through lectures, events and conferences. Through optional paid co-op opportunities and experiential learning across your degree, you’ll apply theory to real-world language use and graduate with strong research and communication skills.
