About the Program
The only dual qualification program of its kind in Canada, English & Professional Writing combines literary study with practical communication and professional writing skills. You’ll explore literature while learning how to write for real-world audiences across formats like digital media, publishing and business communication. The program includes hands-on opportunities to create content, edit materials and work on projects with community organizations, helping you build a professional portfolio. If you enjoy writing and want to apply your skills in professional settings, this program prepares you for careers in publishing, communications and media.

Applied Learning Opportunities
English & Professional Writing offers hands-on learning through creative and applied projects that prepare you for professional communication roles. You’ll create live podcasts, edit and publish books, design websites and develop outreach projects for community organizations. Opportunities to work as a communications consultant allow you to apply your skills in real-world settings. Experiential learning through optional paid co-op helps you build strong writing, editing and digital communication skills, gain practical experience and graduate prepared for careers in publishing, media, communications and related industries.
