About the Program
As a student in Canada’s largest and most comprehensive dance program, you'll train in a range of contemporary dance styles while exploring choreography, performance, health and wellness, and the ideas that shape the art form.
Perform on stage, collaborate with other artists, learn about production and design, and gain hands-on experience that prepares you for a career in dance. You will graduate with a strong foundation in technique, choreography, creative practice, dance studies and more.
For students interested in a teaching career, the Faculty of Education offers a concurrent education program where students can earn their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in conjunction with a Bachelor of Education (BEd).
Teacher Training Program
Students can apply to the Teacher Training Program offered through Canada's National Ballet School. In this program, students will split five years of study between both institutions.

Applied Learning Opportunities
The Dance program offers hands-on learning from day one, giving you real-world experience in the studio, on stage and behind the scenes. Throughout the program, students take part in public performances, showcases and creative projects on campus and across Toronto. In upper years, students have increased opportunities to perform and can audition for the York Dance Ensemble (YDE), AMPD’s resident pre-professional dance company, where they choreograph and perform in real shows while working with faculty, guest artists and industry professionals.
Recent grad Nawshin chats with us about her experience with the Career Centre and how she secured a full-time role within two months of graduating.
