About the Program
French Studies helps you build strong language skills while exploring francophone cultures in Canada and around the world. Gain a competitive edge in the job market as you study in one of the few Ontario universities to offer training in French language, literature and linguistics, as well as co-op opportunities in a bilingual workplace. In this program, you’ll study French language, literature and linguistics while developing your ability to communicate clearly in both personal and professional settings. Courses are taught in French, with support to help you improve at your own level. Small classes and interactive learning give you plenty of opportunities to practice speaking and writing. If you’re interested in languages, global cultures or working in bilingual environments, this program prepares you for a wide range of careers.

Applied Learning Opportunities
French Studies offers hands-on learning through immersive and applied experiences that build your language skills and confidence. Study abroad opportunities in Europe or Quebec allow you to strengthen your fluency while experiencing francophone cultures. You can take on leadership roles through student associations, organizing events and practicing French in real-world settings. Work/study opportunities let you support departmental communications in French, including social media, while optional paid co-op provide valuable bilingual work experience. Through experiential learning across your degree, you’ll develop strong communication skills and graduate prepared for careers in bilingual and international environments.
