About the Program
Study crime, criminal justice and the systems that shape society. In this program, you’ll gain the tools essential to understanding the complexities of criminal justice issues and how they are shaped by larger social, political, economic, cultural and historical contexts. You’ll learn through an interdisciplinary approach, gaining skills in research, critical thinking and communication. Our professors have diverse backgrounds and you’ll benefit from teaching that draws on the connections between criminology and fields such as gender and cultural studies, immigration, global and transnational studies, development studies, surveillance, and business and finance.
If you’re interested in law, public policy or social change, this program helps you understand complex issues and prepares you for a wide range of careers in justice, advocacy and beyond.

Applied Learning Opportunities
Criminology offers hands-on learning that helps you build practical skills in real-world contexts. You’ll develop critical thinking, research and communication skills through applied work such as policy analysis, presentations and engagement with diverse communities. Guest lectures from professionals in the criminal justice system and career-focused events provide insight into the field and opportunities to network. Placement and paid co-op options allow you to gain valuable work experience while applying classroom learning. Through experiential learning across your degree, you’ll graduate prepared for careers or further study in justice, policy and community sectors.
